Lincoln Community School - Welcome: Rising to a Higher Standard

Description

LINCOLN COMMUNITY SCHOOL is a private, not-for-profit, college-preparatory, American international school. We serve an expatriate population associated with the various embassies, Foreign Service agencies, N.G.O’s, United Nations organizations, and international businesses. We also serve a large number of students whose parents are Ghanaian nationals. 20% of our students are Americans, 14% are Ghanaians, and 66% are from other countries. English is the language of instruction. Classes are offered from Preschool through to grade 12. The school year is divided into 2 semesters (Aug. -Dec. & Jan. – June) and additionally into quarter marking periods.

Curriculum: The curriculum is international and multicultural with an emphasis on inquiry and problem solving. It is designed to be appropriately challenging, and to allow a smooth transition into other international schools. The three levels of the International Baccalaureate Programs guide the curriculum. The Primary Years Program (Preschool – Grade 5), The Middle Years Program (Grades 6 – 10) and The IB Diploma Program (Grades 11 – 12). All levels of the IB program are committed to developing the whole child and to equip each student with the skills to be an engaged, thoughtful and productive citizen of the world. English as an Additional Language (EAL) and Learning Support Services are available, but families who may need these programs are advised to consult with the Registrar about possible limitations. LCS currently does not have the resources to serve students with moderate to severe learning needs.

, accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and is a member of both the Council of International Schools and the Association of International Schools in Africa.
