The Liechtenstein Chamber of Commerce and Industry was founded as the Liechtenstein Chamber of Industry in 1947 and changed to the Liechtenstein Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 1980. Headquartered in Vaduz, the LCCI is a private association with voluntary membership. Currently, it represents 42 Liechtenstein companies. Since its founding, the LCCI champions a sustained prosperous economy and social harmony in Liechtenstein.

The LCCI actively contributes towards developing and maintaining interesting general business conditions as well as safeguarding sustained competitiveness of the business location. It takes part in identifying and developing future prospects and opportunities for this business location. The following tasks of the LCCI are set down by law: The interests of member companies must be protected and represented. A sound and healthy national economy must be encouraged. Issues concerning the relationship between employers, employees and apprentices must be tackled and settled in a standardised way. The export trade must be promoted. The LCCI is the employer representative for all member companies, except for the Liechtensteinische Kraftwerke and the banks. The general employment contract of the metal industry (machine and tool engineering) covers 20 companies with 5,218 employees and the general employment contract of the non-metal industry 18 companies with 2,661 employees (status: December 31, 2002). In addition, the LCCI provides a certificate-of-origin and certification service assigned to it in 1949. This involves the main tasks of checking as well as legalising export documents and issuing customs documents for the temporary export of goods (carnets ATA).
