Over the past decade, Rowman & Littlefield has been one of the great success stories of academic publishing, as we have transformed a small scholarly publishing house into one of the leading independent presses in the humanities and social sciences. Today, Rowman & Littlefield's reach extends to textbooks, general interest trade titles, scholarly works, and professional publishing. We credit this growth to a highly experienced team of publishing professionals in acquisitions, marketing, and production as well as the strategic acquisition of several publishing companies including AltaMira Press, Sheed & Ward, and SR Books and several smaller imprints.
We have taken special pride in our commitment to publishing specialized research essential to advancing scholarship at a time when many academic publishers have abandoned this part of their programs. I am very pleased to announce that our sister company, Lexington Books, has now become Rowman & Littlefield's division for publishing specialized new work by established and emerging scholars. Lexington, an imprint with a longstanding tradition of publishing excellence, publishes high-quality scholarly work that may not have a wide audience but makes a significant contribution to scholarship in particular and related fields. In order to ensure that this work reaches its target audience and beyond, Lexington titles will now be marketed alongside Rowman & Littlefield titles in catalogs, promotional flyers and brochures, and in all academic conference displays.
