Leslie Land writes the garden Q&A column for The New York Times, consults on garden design and speaks on food and gardening. Her appearances have included the Today Show, the Smithsonian Institution, the National Geographic Society and the Philadelphia Flower Show.

Her garden books include The New York Times 1000 Gardening Questions and Answers (with previous holders of Q&A duties) and The 3000 Mile Garden, a correspondence with Roger Phillips. The 3000 Mile Garden was made into a TV series shown nationwide on PBS and throughout the UK on Channel 4. Her gardens have also been profiled in Country Living Gardener, Metropolitan Home and The New York Times Magazine.

Leslie’s first job – as one of the opening chefs at Chez Panisse, in Berkeley, California – led to a catering company called Pie in the Sky, and to Good Food, a syndicated column that ran for 20 years in newspapers from Philadelphia to San Francisco. She has written two cookbooks: Reading Between the Recipes (aka The New England Epicure), and The Modern Country Cook, and is a contributor to From Betty Crocker to Feminist Food Studies (University of Massachusetts Press, 2005)
