We had been doing business under that name since 1980 while we were part of a company called “New Life Service Company”, a vinyl repair service to the automobile industry. Under the New Life name we helped to train and start hundreds of service companies around the world. This was done as part of a Christian missionary outreach to help support ministers to preach and teach the gospel of Jesus Christ. In 1986, 3 of the managers left New Life to form there own Total Leather Care Corporation as a service to the leather furniture market.
We designed and produced leather repair products and the first water based color system ever produced for the care and repair of leather furniture. Our first customers were the Designer showrooms in New York City. They sold expensive leather furniture exclusively through design firms. We were so successful that they asked us to service there showrooms around the country.
With the advent of inexpensive contemporary leather furniture from Italy, the demand for our services skyrocketed. We grew along with the leather furniture industry. We were the only company that would go into a customer’s home and repair damages and guarantee the store and/or the manufacturer that we would satisfy the customer or we would not charge for the service.
