For over 19 years, Lakeside has had a reputation for excellence in the delivery of massage therapy education in the State of Wisconsin. History
Lakeside Contemporary Health Services Corporation was established in 1985 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, arising from a need for specialized training in massage therapy and other alternative wellness techniques. This led to the development of Lakeside School of Massage Therapy. The founding premise was to offer a didactic program grounded in the Western health care delivery system, including anatomy and physiology, overlaid with concepts of personal responsibility and holistic practices. Continuing evolution of the school focuses on the ever-changing expectations of massage therapy practitioners and enhancing the educational program to reflect the body of knowledge of massage therapy practices as well as the ethical guidelines expressed by the American Massage Therapy Association. As part of the ongoing evolution of the school, Lakeside has participated successfully in peer reviewed evaluation processes of accreditation at each location.
Philosophy
The philosophy of Lakeside School of Massage Therapy is to train students to become qualified and employable in the field of massage therapy. Lakeside continues to improve the curriculum by incorporating new techniques into the existing programs and by requiring staff members to participate in professional advancement by attending educational conferences, continuing education seminars and in-service training. Lakeside is a non-profit corporation with a board of directors including President/Treasurer Claude Gagnon, Vice-President Susan M. Miller and Secretary Juanita Malloy.
