Description
The Labour Youth Forum on the 14th of May 2005 has expressed its official position to the press, regarding the EU Constitutional Treaty. The LYF, after a series of discussions within the national executive and with its members agreed with an absolute majority to support a conditional yes vote in parliament of the Malta Labour Party parliamentary group in the case of the ratification of the EU Constitutional Treaty.
The conditions for a yes vote circled around the issue of neutrality and the participation of the Maltese armed forces in international conflicts. Mr. Clyde Caruana, President of the LYF, stressed the importance for the MLP Parliamentary Group, to make an official declaration prior to voting in favour of the EU Constitutional Treaty, that Malta will not participate in any military action, and that once in Government the MLP will strive to protect our countries neutrality policy.
