- In 1978 Metal Crafters Manufacturing, Co, a sheet metal fabrication business, was founded in the garage of the current CEO’s Long Island home. Out of this business grew Aero-Data Metal Crafters, Inc. Metal Crafters was incorporated in 1980, its primary business being precision sheet metal fabrication for the defense and computer industry. Metal Crafters established a reputation for producing high quality products with its state-of-the-art computerized equipment. Metal Crafters grew into a very successful sheet metal shop in the early 1980’s, when the defense industry on Long Island was thriving. It became apparent in the mid to late 1980’s, however, that the defense industry was declining and that the medical field was where their future customer base was to be found.
