After the 2005 release of their third disc for AVIE records, Music for the Chapel of the Pietà, coinciding with a promotional tour of England, (Music for the Chapel of the Pietà garnered much critical praise and was selected by British Airways to be played on its in-flight entertainment classical channel), 2006 marks an exciting year for La Serenissima with the first concerts reflecting the performing aspect of Adrian Chandler's AHRC research fellowship 'The Rise of the North Italian Violin Concerto: 1690 - 1740'. Concerts for the first programme are scheduled for February (Southampton and Manchester) and will be followed immediately by a recording for AVIE records to be released in late spring 2006.
March sees the start of a new venture with Linn Records when La Serenissima records Vivaldi's Elvira cantatas alongside two (newly reconstructed) 'Graz' sonatas for violin and continuo. This record will be released in the early autumn of 2006. Both programmes will tour in 2006 throughout Britain and Ireland (see the concert schedule).
