- I spent the better part of my childhood in the Cleveland, Ohio area. Not coming from a rich family, or even mid-upper class, I fortunately had to make most of my toys. It seems that little boys always like to make weapons and such. I started making bows and arrows, traps, deadfalls, snares and camouflaged pits before age 10. Fortunately, I had a father who was interested in all this stuff too. I caught my first fish at the age of three. Believe it or not, I felt sorry for it.
