Description
In Harare the artists enjoy working for themselves at Mark's engineering company and are supplied with all the equipment needed to work on there own. This way they remain independent and are able to employ their relatives and local town people. African metal sculptures policy is to purchase all the art work produced, and place ongoing orders to the artists, guaranteeing them future work.
Kiwi Art Designs supply unique pieces including birds, insects, fish and mammals. The pieces are either copper plated or given a protective coat of varnish.
Each piece is carefully welded together having been cut out from old oil drums and scrap metal. The process is lengthy. The drums are first burnt to remove any paint or residues, they are then cut into sections using gas torches. Hand cut piece are then carefully prepared for welding.
