Description
Rebecca Schaller was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1973 and graduated from Cherokee High School, Cherry Hill, New Jersey, in 1991. She studied art briefly in Philadelphia before moving to Austin, TX in 1992. There she learned the basics of tie-dye and began experimenting with new techniques.
Robert Bailey was born in Stamford, TX in 1967 and graduated with Honors from Plano East Senior High School in Plano, TX in 1986. He attended the University of Texas at Austin as a business major.
They met in Austin in 1992 and almost immediately started a family and tie-dye business. Recognizing the potential of tie-dye as a true art form, they began to study a broad range of tie-dye and shibori methods from all over the world. They also have developed many new tie-dye techniques based on the goal of gaining more control over the finished product.
