Description

About Katmar Software

Katmar Software is a small, privately held business based in Durban, South Africa. It was established by Harvey Wilson in 1994. Harvey is a chemical engineer with 20+ years experience in Process Design and Project Management. The utility programs he had developed for his own use became so popular amongst his colleagues that he decided to publish them, starting with the WASP steam tables in August 1994.

The product range has grown over the years, partly due to associations established with other engineers with similar interests and abilities. In this way the WASP steam tables, which were originally DOS based, became WASP for Windows when Andrew Craig applied his Delphi skills to the source code. Similarly, the Turbine Steam-Consumption Calculator was originally written by Wayne Jayes of the Sugar Engineers' Library for his own use, and then re-written by Harvey to improve its usability.

By July 2000 this sideline business had grown to the point where it demanded full attention, and Harvey resigned his position as a project manager with an international contractor to concentrate exclusively on Katmar Software.
