I was born and raised in Iowa, and attended Iowa State University, where I received a BA in Journalism and Mass Communication. I moved to Southern California the mid 1990s to work in film publicity and finally ended up in the San Francisco bay area in 2001. It is a terrific place for artists and writes, and I have found the artistic community here to be amazingly supportive.
I have been creating handmade books since the late 1990s. I have always had a love of books, so creating my own is a natural extension of that. I have recently returned my focus to writing and I am currently working on a novel and several illustrated children's books.
Yes, that is a rat on my shoulder. My husband and I currently share our home with six rats (and a dog). Rats make delightful companions, contrary to what many people may think.
