Description
The Journal of Physiology publishes original Research Papers in all areas of physiology illustrating new physiological principles or mechanisms. Papers on work at the molecular level, at the level of the cell membrane, single cells, tissues or organs and systems physiology are all considered, with an emphasis on human and mammalian physiology. Rapid Reports receive an accelerated review and publication, reflecting the expectation that these papers should be of particularly high interest and importance.
The Journal of Physiology online allows rapid access to all papers after initial copy-editing, ensuring rapid publication. Contents pages and Abstracts are available FREE to all users. Searchable full text, in both HTML and PDF formats, with Medline links from references, is available to all individuals within the domain of those institutions with a subscription. A subscription to the current volumes also ensures access the full text of archive volumes. A free electronic contents alerting service is also available to all.
The Journal of Physiology retains its prominent position as the journal of choice for the publication of original peer-reviewed science covering all areas of physiology. The Institute of Scientific Information (ISI) 2003 impact factor of 4.352 is consistent with the role of The Journal of Physiology as the key journal for papers reporting high quality original science with a rapid influence on physiology. The long cited half-life (9.5 years) of articles published in The Journal of Physiology shows that this influence is sustained.
