- Who would have ever thought that music without lyrics, actually music without vocals, ( karaoke music ), in this case would be so popular? I never thought I would get up in front of people and sing. Heck I didn’t even like talking to a group of people much less singing! The first couple of times were a bit scary but once I heard people actually applaud and praise the performance that was all it took. I find that the more I get up and sing, the more comfortable I get. Soon after that I purchased my own karaoke machine and several cd+g’s and it’s been karaoke all the time! I have all kinds of country music song lyrics, as well as several other genres of music lyrics that I use to practice with when I can’t use my karaoke machine for whatever reason. If anyone had told me a few years ago I would be singing Karaoke on stage I would have laughed at them. I did not even like to talk in front of groups of people, much less sing! One night my wife and I were out with friends at a local club that had Karaoke as the entertainment and she coaxed me into getting up there with her to sing a couple of songs. I fell in love with the experience and have been at it ever since. Now I f requently load my home karaoke machine with 3 discs that I picked randomly and start playing them. My wife and I watch the music lyrics on the screen and sing the songs we like. If we do not want to sing the particular song that is playing I skip ahead to the next one. We find this can be a good way to discover some new material we had not thought of previously. We usually start out with new material by getting the lyrics. Then we play the song through the PC and sing along with the artist. Once we are comfortable with the song we give it a shot at the club we frequent. One interesting thing I have found is that many times I do not know the lyrics as well as I thought I did. Frequently I find there are words in the song that I had no idea were there. I thought the words were something else entirely! That is just a hint that before you get up there to sing you might want to check the lyrics!
