This web site is a focal point for the growing community that is exploring, developing, and evolving Jini Network Technology. It is a place to share not just ideas, but related source code, documentation, and other development work based on Jini technology. The site facilitates collaborative development by providing tools and areas for discussion and collaboration.

History

The original Jini.org website was launched in March, 1999. Over the years, we have seen many changes to both structure and content. Efforts are continually being made to meet the evolving needs of the Jini Community. At the request of community members, new content areas have been added such as a spotlight on active projects and a Marketplace/Press Release area. Webcast events were added to enable us to communicate more effectively with a global audience.

In June, 2002, Jini.org was relaunched with CollabNet and their SourceCast software for collaborative websites. This approach gives Jini Community developers a wide range of tools for collaboration including source code control and new tools for project administrators.
