Jesse is a graphic artist and photographer who began his nature photography pursuits after a move from the Midwest to the mountains of Colorado in the late 1990's. He settled in the picturesque resort town of Estes Park, Colorado — the gateway community to Rocky Mountain National Park. Such amazing natural surroundings provided endless opportunities to develop and refine a growing passion for nature photography — a passion that continues to pursue to this day.
His past experiences have included large format photography (4x5), traditional lab development and b/w printing, and learning the ropes with an antique Leica rangefinder system (which had been kept in his family for generations). Although his equipment is now completely digital, Jesse looks back fondly on the time spent learning the craft of photography through time-honored methods — many of which are emulated in the digital processes he relies upon to create his imagery. Combined with the cross-over theories from his graphic design training, he continues to develop a photographic style based upon his personal vision of nature – regardless of his current choice of camera and photographic tools.
Jesse is currently living in the mountains west of Colorado Springs with his wife Maleesha and son A.J. When not spending time with his family, he continues his graphic design and nature photography pursuits. His graphic designs are award-winning, including his specialty — website design. Although his photography career is relatively new, his photographic work has been collected as fine-art prints, has appeared in major publications (including Backpacker Magazine and most recently, the cover of the National Park Service brochure for Rocky Mountain National Park) and has been featured in a variety of online websites and travel guides.
