Company History
Jani-King was founded in 1969 by Jim Cavanaugh. Jim developed his business concept while attending college and working part-time as a hotel night auditor.
In talking with the hotel's contract janitor, he discovered that while the janitor had no problem supervising his cleaning crew at night, he was finding it difficult to go out and secure new business during the day. Recognizing the janitor's aversion to selling, Jim volunteered to help him secure new contracts. The idea proved so successful that Jim eventually started his own cleaning business, then began franchising his concept in 1974.
Jani-King opened for business in Canada in 1986 and has grown to over 400 franchisees operating from over 15 Regional Offices, coast to coast.
