Jacqueline's story...
I was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, and – like many young moms – had a life B.K. (before kids) that involved a career, travel … and a paycheck! After college I worked for a large incentive travel company out of St. Louis, which is where I met my husband, Mark. Somewhere along the way, we got married, moved several times, and – in 1997 – had our daughter, Shannon. I continued to work, but things were just not the same. I felt entirely torn between work and home life. Eventually, Mark's job brought us to Traverse City, Michigan, where we had our second child, Max, and I was able to stay home with the kids and enjoy life for a while.
Then one day, after Max turned 2, I found myself thinking about work again. While the thought of joining the corporate environment made my stomach turn, I began searching for a way to meld my creativity with my stay-at-home-mom status. A good friend of mine from St. Louis was selling stationery out of her home. A self-proclaimed paper freak, I thought this was something I would really like. As I began researching existing stationery lines everything started looking the same to me.
At this point, I was thinking of a name for my business and wanted to come up with a unique business card, so I visited a local art supply store and picked up some really fun card stock. One of my friends stopped by that night and said, "Why don't you try to make your own stationery?" What an idea!!! I had never considered creating my OWN line of stationery – even though I had been making my own Christmas cards and invitations for years. I stayed up until midnight that night coming up with samples and absolutely loved it! I truly did not want to stop!
