- There are new standards on compounding sterile products from the United States Pharmacopoeia (USP). The standards have the weight of federal regulations and could be enforced by state boards of pharmacy and JCAHO is currently enforcing the USP 797 Chapter (sterile product compounding). This USP Chapter applies to anyone who takes a dose out of a vial or ampule, those who manage and maintain the preparation environment, those who ensure and document employee competency and those responsible for regulations.
