IUS Online Communications Centre

Description

Set up in March 1995, the IUS has expanded in membership from its four founder members to over 400 nationwide. Our membership includes professionals, undergraduates, college and GCSE students. Our activities have also expanded to cover London, the Midlands, and the North of England. Run solely by volunteer students and young professionals, we successfully became a registered charity in 1997.

For many, starting university or work can be a daunting experience. For those away from home the experience can be far more challenging, having left the security of their family and community. As students and young professionals ourselves, we are aware of the pressures encountered whilst studying in university and in the work place, especially as Muslims. The IUS hopes to recreate the security and community that many of us have left behind. We organise events and offer a wide range of services all year round. In the process, we hope to bring together students and young professional of all ethnic backgrounds to meet and learn from one another. This will also facilitate the future development of our communities.

We believe that Islam is a comprehensive way of life and that it is necessary for everyone to acquire knowledge of Islam in all its forms and sciences and implement them in our daily lives. Our aims and objectives centre on the facilitation of Islam through the Holy Qur'an and Holy Ahlul-Bayt (AS). We aim to assist individuals in every aspect of university or professional life as well as in the study of religion at all levels.
