Institute for Science, Engineering and Public Policy
The Institute for Science, Engineering and Public Policy is a public, non-profit corporation which sponsors lectures in Portland, Oregon by visiting scientists. The Institute works for the development of local understanding of issues concerning science, technology and society.
The Institute looks to establish a policy network and an informed public dialogue to better plan the technological future of the nation. They also work for the implementation of those policies that take full advantage of technological opportunities for the benefit of humanity.
Programs
- Public Education Program: Public Speakers Series; contributions to print and electronic media; workshops/seminars; primary and secondary curriculum materials.
- STS Policy Network: Serve as the local link to the national and international network of STS consultants and "think tanks', whereby global expertise can be focused on the nation.
- Promote Technology Transfer: Foster university-industry relations, and nurture entrepreneurship.
