As a horse breeding family which spans seven generations, we have always had a great respect for our traditional breed, the Irish Gyspy Cob. The contribution of this versatile, hardy and intelligent animal has been the backbone of Ireland's outstanding and renowned success as producers of some of the best horses in the world.
At our home here in the midlands of Ireland, we work with The Irish Cob Society and also The Irish Horse Board to promote breeding standards, insuring a breed true to type.. Being lucky enough to live in the homeland of the Gypsy Cob, and having the advantage of access to the finest foundation stock, we have our own herd of registered breeding mares, the finest stallions and follow on youngsters in Europe. We have provided the foundation stock for not only branches of The Irish Cob Society now formed in: France, Holland, England, Germany and Sweden, but also The Gypsy Cob and Drum Horse Association and The Gypsy Vanner Association in the U.S.A. In fact, the first stallion to be registered in the Irish studbook, was produced on our farm and is now featured as the Irish Cob Society's logo. With our prefix "Clononeen" we hope to be able to follow the career of the horses produced here as they carry our banner world-wide.
When you look through this website, not only will you see some of the best Gypsy Cobs in the world, you will also see the truth behind this ancient breed and the quality of our stock. You wont find us passing judgment on other farms or indeed their horses. We don’t like to push, our approach is to give clients the information and let them make up their own minds, hasn’t it worked so far?
