Ira Wood & Sons, Inc. was founded in 1918 in Owensboro, Kentucky. At that time Owensboro was a quiet river town with a ferry that crossed the Ohio river, into Indiana. Based right on the Ohio river Ira Wood & Sons served the city with all of it's plumbing needs from pipe and fixtures to well equipment. In the 50's Ira Wood & Sons, Inc employed over 50 plumber's to meet the demands of the budding river town. However, over time the focus shifted more towards providing products, and less toward installing. In 1989 the city of Owensboro asked Ira Wood & Sons, Inc to leave the banks of the Ohio, and to relocate within the city due to city expansion. This relocation brought the company to the 620 Salem Drive location which they currently operate out of. Instantly, the additional space, and the changing environment of the market allowed for one of the Midwest's premier plumbing wholesalers to emerge. Through hard work, and a VERY loyal customer base Ira Wood & Sons is one of the most established, and longest operating wholesalers in the plumbing industry.
Times change, as does everything else, and the nationwide demand for high end products could not be overlooked by our company. We take pride in stocking what many other distributors would never have in inventory, as well as everything else, so why not offer our products to the world?
