Description
My name is Iona Limond and I am 21 years old. I have three siblings and I love animals. As well as my health, my beliefs, values, and whole life have been challenged significantly in the last few years. I became ill and have been suffering from depression and anorexia, and bulimia. I was hospitalised during the last five years. During this period I sought help from alternative/complementary therapies, alongside conventional medicine. I find this approach, particularly vibrational healing, very helpful for my stability; the holistic approach helps to deal with the underlying issues. I continue to use Reiki on a regular basis. Studying Holistic Therapies at college has given me a new lease of life, renewed interest when I thought I would never be enthusiastic again.
I have always needed sports and exercise to keep me balanced, such as hockey, swimming, tennis, netball, athletics, cross-country, hiking and yoga.
My physical ability to do so much as previously I have been fortunate to do has been a source of frustration. Mentally and physically, change must be accepted with any illness. Though life will never be the same, we have to make the most of that we are fortunate to still have; but also draw from the experience we had. The pain, suffering, loss need not be the focus; but being grateful for the opportunity to re-access our lives, relationships, ambitions; enabling us to refine our goals and values; and discovering more about our true selves?
