After 25+ years in the corporate world, I decided that I was ready for a change. When I started out in the computer industry it was a fun business. In the early days, the 1970s and 80s, rapid technological developments, combined with explosive growth in a still-emerging market, made for exciting times and challenging careers. And over the years, I followed many paths -- sales, marketing, education, technical support, programming, systems analysis, database administration, project management, etc. But I watched the industry gradually evolve from its fun and exciting environment into a rigid corporate structure. So, I decided to move on.
But, did I always want to be an artist? As a child, I craved working with my hands. From finger painting, to silly putty, to plastic clay, to woodcarving, I experimented with various media. But what really stimulated me was modelling. I made hundreds of models -- boats, cars, battleships, airplanes, locomotives, tanks, rockets, you name it. And I wanted to make the models work too, especially the airplanes and rockets. So I did.
But then, what happened? Well, I grew up. Just like all of us. Finished high school, finished college. Got a job, got another, and then another, and then another. And you know how it goes from there. Back to the first paragraph. Square One.
