Title

International Monitor Institute

Description

Our mission is to identify and acquire visual and audio evidence of human rights violations and the circumstances that produce them; to render a detailed synopsis of the material for our searchable database; to ensure that the materials are accessible to the public; and to preserve the collection for all time. We provide research services to individuals and organizations, domestically and internationally, and employ the highest journalistic standards in our process of collection to ensure that we accurately document the whole story from all sides.

We are a resource to those who understand the value and power of visual and audible evidence and will consequently use the materials cautiously and responsibly to see that a just society is restored, citizens are aided in their recovery, the public is better informed, and that truth is the sole doctrine in telling our collective history.

The International Monitor Institute traces its roots to the fall of 1993, when the United Nations Commission of Experts requested help from the Los Angeles based documentary production company Linden Productions to find a solution to a logistical predicament: how to cohesively organize over 600 hours of film and video. Linden Productions developed a method to organize, synopsize, and index massive amounts of material. This system allowed investigators to quickly search and access pertinent materials by even the narrowest criteria.
