Description
ICanGarden.com began in 1995 by Master Gardener, Donna Dawson, with a view to providing information to gardeners. Since its origin, ICanGarden has grown to include information on over 400 garden clubs, almost 300 public gardens, over 3500 articles from over 150 garden writers, gardening events from around the world, over 800 links, over 750 suppliers and thousands of forum and member items.
As the owner/publisher of her Internet web site, ICanGarden.com, Donna has been featured in Canadian Gardening magazine, The Toronto Star, Globe and Mail, Canadian House & Home Gardening Life, Alberta Venture, East Coast Gardener, Alberta Gardener, BizEdmonton, Chatelaine Gardens and a number of other Canadian publications. She has appeared on Canada AM, HGTV's Indoor Gardener and Calling All Gardeners, CFRB radio, as well as being a featured guest speaker at numerous prestigious Canadian gardening events including Canada Blooms and Victoria's Art in Bloom. Donna has also written an article on the Devonian Botanic Garden for Alberta Views and English gardens for the Edmonton Journal.
In 1997, Donna was awarded the Canadian Internet "Person of the Year Award". At the same time ICanGarden was voted the Canadian Community Site of the year. In 1998 Donna was selected as one of the five Canadian Gardening "Gardening Angels" who have made a difference to the Canadian gardening community. In 1999 Donna was a western regional finalist in the Canadian Women’s Entrepreneurial Award. In 2001 she was honoured to be included in a select few women that were chosen for an exhibition celebrating women in the community of St. Albert called 'Connected Voices'.
