Who We Are
The Historical Society of the Georgia National Guard, Inc. is a non-profit organization formed in 1988 under the direction of The Adjutant General of Georgia to promote, educate and perpetuate the history of the Georgia National Guard and Militia. Membership is open to all persons interested in the military history of Georgia.
An annual conference is held each year in the Fall at different historical locations across the state. Features include speakers, a luncheon and a tour usually associated with the theme of the conference.
Goals and Activities
Goals of the Society include the establishment of a museum; collection and restoration of historic artifacts from Georgia's military past; a reference library where scholars, students, and members may research Georgia's military heritage; and the publication of a comprehensive, scholarly book on the history of Georgia 's militia and National Guard.
