In the early years, we concentrated on the upper end of the domestic removals market. By the early '80's we were involved in the delivery and installation of laboratory apparatus. When many of the scientists we delivered to asked us to position heavy, fragile, apparatus at the point of use we found the transfer of skills easy.
Our service, at that time, was clearly unusual. Most suppliers used conventional carriers and left the customer to organize the unloading of heavy equipment from flat bed trucks without tail lifts. Having achieved that by whatever means available, the customer then had the problem of moving their purchase to the laboratory. This was often done using "volunteers". Naturally, when the suppliers who originally employed us, offered a full service to their customers they were able to sell more equipment.
Word of our service spread quickly. In 1989 we made the decision to drop all other work and concentrate on the distribution and relocation of scientific apparatus, including moving complete laboratories. This simplified training and the acquisition of handling equipment and vehicles.
