What is HPELT?
The Hastings Prince Edward Land Trust (HPELT) is a group of people who are committed to protecting the natural and cultural heritage features of our region. We believe that these special places can be preserved if we work together.
In 1998, HPELT secured federal incorporation and status as a registered charity. HPELT is a member of the Ontario Land Trust Alliance, and is registered with Environment Canada as a recipient of Ecological Gifts. (see Donations for more information)
What do we do?
The Trust's goal is to assist the community in protecting our special places through education, land acquisition, and cooperative land management. HPELT holds land in "trust", permanently protecting land and maintaining it for the benefit of future generations. The Land Trust also utilizes a number of innovative strategies to encourage protection of our important areas:
