- Even though its President Dan Hovis has an accounting background he always had the desire to join the construction industry. To be successful, he knew he would have to be innovative and offer something a little different than the mainstream. That is why he launched Hovis Custom Builders into the residential market, constructing homes with light gauge steel frame. Several years ago, Hovis Custom Builders began to explore the benefits of a product called, Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) and at that time decided the marriage of ICF with light gauge steel frame was the ideal combination for the construction of new homes.
