Hopi Roots Southwestern Art Gallery

Description

Hello, my name is Eric Miller. I am the owner/coordinator of this southwestern art gallery you are viewing. This gallery is my life-long dream come true. I’ve collected high-quality Native American art diligently for the past 13 years. In my early 20s, I started collecting limited editions of Native American masks. From there, I have evolved as one of the most avid Hopi pottery and Kachina doll collectors on the East Coast.

The pottery and kachinas that you view in my gallery are 100% one-of-a-kind Native American made from Polacca, a village on first Mesa in Arizona. I have had the honor and pleasure of meeting two Native American art traders, which has put me in direct contact with the top artists on the three Mesas. I have collected an assortment of Thomas Polacca’s pottery, which is my favorite of all potters. As he died in 2003, I will truly miss seeing new pieces of his pottery. I’m also one of the few people who carry the pottery of Gary Polacca Nampeyo, who is Tom’s eldest son. Also on display in this gallery is the pottery of Tom’s sister, Iris Youvella Nampeyo, as well as the work of her son Nolan and various other Hopi potters.

You will also see well renowned Hopi kachina carvers throughout my gallery, such names as Cecil Calniptewa, Loren Phillips, Alvin Navasie, and one of my favorites, Ivan Wytewa.
