Title

J. Edgar Hoover - Honk If You Love J. Edgar Hoover

Description

Written by Allyn Baskerville and Bill Gillespie

"Honk If You Love J. Edgar Hoover" is the true story of a career F.B.I. agent during the beginning years of the Civil Rights Act, the Miranda Warning and the Vietnam War and includes true stories of undercover work, the horrific battle at Wounded Knee in South Dakota and the many personalities and police and FBI procedures with a twist of humor during the years 1966 to 1990.

The story tracks the career of a FBI agent from 1966 to 1990, which were very interesting years in law enforcement. The Civil Rights Act had just been passed in 1964, the Miranda warning was just coming into play, Whites were rioting against the war in Vietnam, and Blacks were rioting for civil rights reasons. White and Black radical groups were spawned that perpetrated bank robberies and murdered police officers. The story reveals how coping with the cumbersome bureaucratic system had an effect on the FBI agent. It portrays the activities and personalities of law enforcement officers with a concentration on the procedures of police and FBI work. It also portrays them as real people who were not infallible, which sometimes led to humorous occurrences.

The battle at Wounded Knee, South Dakota, is included and retired FBI Special Agent in Charge Nicholas O'Hara was gracious enough to furnish the background in the "Epilogue." The cold-blooded murders of Special Agents Ronald A. Williams and Jack R. Coler were perpetrated by Leonard Peltier and others at the Pine Ridge Reservation on that fateful day in 1975.
