The Story So Far
Having built up a successful estate agency network in and around Manchester, the homes4u Group plc founder, Wayne A. Mellor, initiated plans during the mid 1990s to create a unique high street brand. Its purpose was to de-mystify estate agency and satisfy all of the property needs and wants so frequently requested from consumers. By creating a new concept of multi- purpose lounges to include property, coffee, and the internet, and by broadening the company's product range, homes4u set out to deliver the consumers' needs and wants and lead the property industry's sales, lettings and management sectors into the future.
Chief Executive, Carolyn Mellor (a retail specialist who spent 15 years with the Burton Group) was recruited in 1997, her principal task being to support structure and procedures and to create the blueprint for the national network. homes4u is the first of its kind - incorporating a high street residential property company, cafe and internet access area. Carolyn believes it is essential for people to feel welcome and have all the choices and answers at their fingertips, with the best professional advice in a comfortable and stress free environment, combined with a service that will surpass customer expectations.
In April 1999, a major achievement for homes4u was accreditation of the Investors in People Award for training and development, one of the first national estate agents to do so.
