Description

Home page for Homeowners of Texas, a non-profit corporation advocating the regulatory reform of residential construction with builder licensing and oversight for sound, safe and quality homes.

Additional Information

Texas homebuilding remains strong because of its good economic climate and relatively cheap land and labor, but the lack of regulatory oversight and builder accountability has made the state a magnet for bad or unscrupulous builders. HOT [1] is working with the public to enhance the Texas homebuilding industry with policy proposals that replace or enhance the TRCC (Texas Residential Construction Commission). Its aim is to ensure that new construction and remodeling is properly engineered and then built with licensed skills and regulatory oversight to protect homeowners from the devastating effects of substandard construction.
