Title

HoePlow, The Idaho Plow

Description

When man first changed from a hunter-gatherer society and began to cultivate plants for food, he developed many different hand tools to use for this. That society was called 'horticultural' because it was concerned only with their own food supplies and not profiting from it. The last tool developed, and the culmination of all of those eons of our horticultural past was the hoe.

The next stage after horticultural was agricultural, and it was marked and separated from previous eons of horticulture by the invention of the most important agricultural implement since the beginning of history: the plow. The plow was an agricultural implement used to turn and break up soil, bury crop residues and to help control weeds. It alone marks the advent of our agricultural present where one man can produce food for thousands, even millions of people, all across the globe. In all of those eons of time and cultural/societal changes, no one has connected the single most important hand tool of the past, the hoe, with the single most important implement of the present, the plow.
