Dean Lollis is a life-long resident of South Carolina and currently resides in Greenwood, S.C. He has always enjoyed baseball, but his interest really began to grow when he took his first job in journalism -- working at the Index-Journal in Greenwood, S.C.
One of his first stories was to write a feature on the Voiselle brothers. Bill Voiselle made it to the major leagues and his brothers, Diz and Jim, had careers as minor-league pitchers and textile baseball players.
That interview and that meeting with Bill Voiselle inspired Dean to research textile baseball in South Carolina. From there, the interest grew to finding the stories of professional players who were born in South Carolina.
