Description
We, the Hillsdale Liberals, consider it our mission to transform the culture of the United States, beginning with that of Hillsdale College, into a society of individuals dedicated to a belief in liberty. As a non-partisan organization, we advocate the end of legalized plunder, the reduction of government to its proper role as a defender of its citizens’ lives, liberty, and property, and the restoration of the individual’s natural rights and responsibilities. We seek to educate and learn from our peers, that we may all better understand the meaning of freedom in the philosophical, social, economic, and political spheres, and thus, through the dissemination of classical liberal beliefs, that we may see the rebirth of free enterprise, limited government, and personal responsibility.
Basically, we just wanted to piss off the fascist College Republican pig dogs! Actually, some of us like to claim fealty to classical liberal political philosophy, i.e. limited government, free trade, and all that. Hence "liberals," which is easier to say than "classical liberals." It was originally Dan's idea, and Dan is known for his laziness, so we suppose the real answer to the question "why" is simply: Dan is lazy.
We, the Hillsdale Liberals, are generally not a member of any particular political party, as most of them are actively involved (or would be if they could) in looting the taxpayers of this country. We are a student group at Hillsdale College created to educate people about the value of liberty and to facilitate debate regarding current political issues (The College Republicans really hate that part, most of them can't debate their way out of a wet paper bag).
