Wilbert and Clara Ann Ottmers are the owners of Hill Country Refrigeration. They are both natives and life-long residents of Fredericksburg and Gillespie County. Both Wilbert and Clara Ann have family roots deep in the heart of Gillespie County. Wilbert's great, great, grandfather was Dr. Christian Althaus, and Clara Ann's great grandfather was the founder of Schaetter's Funeral Home in Gillespie County in 1882.
Wilbert graduated from Fredericksburg High School in 1958 and Clara Ann from St. Mary's High School in 1960. They married in 1960 and have three children, Chris, Lisa, and Bert, and 5 grandchildren. Chris and Lisa are both employed by Hill Country Refrigeration and Bert is an executive chef in St. Croix, U. S. Virgin Islands.
Wilbert began his career in the heating and air conditioning business in 1956 working side by side with his uncle, Harvey Althaus, at Fredericksburg Machine and Appliance. He put his experience to good use when he purchased Henry Pfeiffer Refrigeration in 1974.
