Each of us experiences some kind of adversity in our life. Too often, we respond to its challenge with questions such as, "Why me?" or, "Why did this happen to me?" The better inquiry may be, "Okay. This happened to me. But, what kind of meaning shall I assign to it?"
This website discusses a variety of adversities encountered by speaker, author, and attorney, Mark Douglass, as well as adversities encountered by others. Topics include: childhood sexual abuse, depression, PTSD, and career dissatisfaction. Mr. Douglass hopes that readers of the site will come to agree with the playwright, William Shakespeare, when he wrote: "Sweet are the uses of adversity, which, like a toad, though ugly and venomous, wears yet a precious jewel in its head."
Mr. Douglass, a professional keynote speaker, speaks about overcoming adversity. He also is the author of a memoir entitled: Flashbacks of Abuse: how a machine gun toting sociopath freed me from the chains of my childhood.
