The W. W. Williams Company was started in 1912 by William Wallace Williams, Sr. It has grown from a company with a little over one hundred thousand dollars in sales in one year, to a company with sales of over two hundred ten million dollars today. It has the distinction of being one of the nation's oldest industrial distributing companies.
The W. W. Williams Company began as a small family owned and operated business. Although it has become a modern, multi- million dollar corporation, it has remained a family business throughout its ninety year history. The Williams Company has had only four presidents. The founder, William Wallace Williams, Sr. served as president from 1912 until his death in 1931. His eldest son, Jules Clare Williams, took over the presidency in 1932 and continued in that position until 1963. David F. Williams, grandson of the founder, succeeded his uncle until 1999. Two other family members, Rose M. Williams and William Wallace Williams, Jr., wife and son of the founder, also played active leadership roles in the development of the company.
