Title

Hancock County Visitor's Bureau

Description

What We Do

The Hancock County Visitors Bureau Inc. is charged with promoting the cultural, historical, artistic and commercial amenities of Hancock County, Indiana, for the purpose of increasing tourism, visitation, conventions and participation in various special events for the economic benefit of Hancock County and the enrichment of quality of life issues for visitors and residents alike.

Located in historic Hancock County, the bureau is conscious of the community’s links to the history and development of early Indiana. The county seat, Greenfield, is bisected by the Historic National Road (U.S. 40) and much of its downtown area has been recognized as a National Register Historic District. Greenfield is the site of Hoosier Poet James Whitcomb Riley’s boyhood home and takes much of its character from the influence of Riley’s legacy and the Victorian era in which he lived.

Hancock County, a rapidly growing area, is also home to an active arts community and is the site of Greenfield’s annual Riley Festival, one of the largest festivals of its kind in Indiana.
