About Us
Hawthorne Valley Farm is a 400-acre, diversified Biodynamic® farm nestled in the hills of the Taconic Range in Columbia County, New York, and is part of the Hawthorne Valley Association (the "Association"), a not-for-profit organization dedicated to agriculture, education, and the arts. Other branches of the Association include a kindergarten through twelfth grade Waldorf School, the Adonis Press (publishers of books on Goethean science and other selected titles), and the Visiting Students Program, which brings children from schools throughout the Northeast to spend a week on the Farm.
The Farm is virtually self-sufficient, relying on its own feeds, manure, and compost. In keeping with the tenets of Biodynamic® farming, which treats the land as a living organism, no fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides are used.
The Farm is comprised of several different departments, all of which operate under the Farm's common management structure. The Farm, Dairy, Green Market, Community Supported Agriculture program, Bakery, and Farm Store work together toward attaining Hawthorne Valley Farm's vision of "nurturing the land that nourishes us."
