- Hats and Haberdashery was founded in 1994 by Cynthia Koeze. Cynthia was a milliner specializing in custom, one-of-a-kind hats she created and sold through her studio in the country. In an effort to increase her business, she opened a shop “in town” in May 1994. “In town” was and still is the quaint village of Suttons Bay, Michigan, located on the Grand Traverse Bay in beautiful Leelanau County, between Traverse City and Leland/Northport. The Leelanau peninsula extends into Lake Michigan and is known for its crystal clear lakes and streams, rolling hills and sand dunes and its scenic cherry farms and vineyards.
