- About Hacknoid Games
- The first Hacknoid game was written by myself (Glenn Franck) back in 1994. While working on SGI (Silicon Graphics) machines, the desire came to write a 3D-version of the arcade-style Breakout or Arkanoid games. Since SGIs supported fast, 3D-graphics, it was easy enough to write the game. In the fall of 1994, SGI announced it's IndyZone games competition. With the beginnings of Hacknoid already written, I proceeded to develop the game more fully, and entered it into the contest in time for the deadline in June, 1995. A few weeks later I got the phone call that I had won the contest! The prize was an awesome Indy workstation. A bit primitive by today's standards, but quite the machine at the time.
