Hazrat Khawaja Shaikh Rukunuddin Firdausi R.A. was the Saint, Peer and Sufi of the Suharwardia order later well known as the Firdausi Silsila of the Sufis who ruled the heart of folks in South Delhi and the great soul of this part of Delhi. The Silsila started in early 13th century in India, more than seven hundred years before in the period of the Sufis of same stature as Hazrat Qutubuddin Bakhtiar Kaki R.A. and Hazrat Khawaja Nizamuddin Aulia R.A. and contemporary of all the above Sufis living in India that period of time. In 13th century Turk Sultan Kaikobad founded the city of Kilokri near Sarai Kale Khan adjacent to the ring road of Delhi near Maharani Bagh in South of Delhi. Famous Historian, writer, poet and philosopher of 13th century has prominently mentioned the presence of Khanqah in Kilokri of Hazrat Khawaja Shaikh Rukunuddin Firdausi as the famous, holy, revered sufi of the time who was regarded as the most respectable Sufi of that period even Sultans of Delhi and the aristocrats of the Darbar always visited this Khanqah which was sprawled into several acres of land granted by the Turk Sultan, containing the various sections of the Khanqah such as the Mosque, langar Khana, Majlis, Zanan Khana and the hostel for the persons visiting the Khanqah. Langar khana was used to feed the poor visiting the Khanqah, majlis was the place where the qawwali was conducted for the majlise-saman haal- quaal in the Turki tradition of the Sufis of the that period in Turkistan. Hazrat came with his family in the khanqah and settled there.
