Description

Excerpted from the website:

We are dedicated to passing on the Chi Ho Tzu tradition, as taught to Master Aaron Kravetz by GrandMaster Francisco Camacho of Juarez, Mexico and El Paso, TX. GrandMaster was sick as a 7 year old child with a glandular disease that caused him to gain 50 pounds rapidly. His uncle Wu who is Chinese (GrandMaster is one quarter Chinese) took him to a Shaolin Temple deep in the Mexican mountains. There, monks who had escaped China during the revolution treated him with herbs and acupuncture. In a short time he was well and training in the arts of Shaolin. With the permission of his family he trained there as he grew up. Many training days were 12 hours. He studied the traditional 5 Animals of Shaolin, Tiger,Dragon,Leopard, Snake and Crane. He also specialized in Traditional Preying Mantis and Tai-Chi. Master Kravetz met him in El Paso Texas in 1986. At the time Master Kravetz taught Chinese Kempo which has it's roots in the same 5 traditional Shaolin Animals. He studied Chinese Kempo under Master Bill Packer.Kempo stressed self-defense technique, aggressive sparring and Kata. The Chi Ho Tzu lineage stressed form and self defense as well, yet had a profound depth of internal training and Philosophical transformation through a deeper understanding of the meaning of the art.Master Kravetz also started studying Tai-Chi with Grandmaster Camacho in 1986. Master Kravetz was also fortunate to study Wu-style Tai-Chi from Wen Xu. Wen Xu was an indoor student of GrandMaster Ma YuehLiang who was Wu-Chien Chuan's son-in law and his top indoor disciple. Wen Xu started his training in 1935 and published many articles for Tai Chi magazine. He was chosen by Ma Yueh Liang to co-write the important treatise "Wu-Style Tai Chi Push Hands" He was a very humble practitioner who would never show his skills to anyone that approached him with a judgemental or egotistical manner. Master Kravetz was priveleged to be one of several of his students that got to see him demonstrate the skills passed on to him by Ma. Wen Xu preferred to be called Dr. Zee because he was a cardiologist as well as a Tai Chi Master. He was always saying no one can teach! He was a little stubborn about imperfections in his students. One day he saw one of Master Kravetz students practicing the form and he said, "Very good, who was your teacher?" Master Kravetz, the student replied. For some reason Dr. Zee was silenced by this for a moment, everyone had dinner and the night passed. A couple of weeks later Dr. Zee offered out of the blue"I guess you can teach" If you knew Dr. Zee you would know that this was his blessing. He seldom praised his students as he was busy pointing out the myriad of imperfections.
