Title

Gulfhaven Gardens Daylily Nursery

Description

Daylily rust is a spotting disease of the foliage and bloom scapes. It was initially distributed by a Plant Broker from Central America in August 2000.

Since that time, the disease has traveled throughout the US and in some gardens in Canada. The disease causes raised tiny bumps on the leaves (usually below the leaf) that can be wiped off with a tissue. To us, the dots look like raised bumps of pollen. See images.

Susceptibility among varieties is varied. Some daylilies show symptoms heavily, others hardly at all. Sometimes it can be confused with leaf streak or seasonal yellowing of the leaves.
